After receiving feedback from our idea, we decided to come to an agreement that What Went Down (FOALS) is our official song for the video. Firstly, the lyrics in the song cohere with the narrative and we like the beat at the beginning of the song. We thought that we could use the three drum beats to our benefit in the final product and make them stand out massively.
We also changed the narrative very slightly as we originally planned to include a scene of domestic violence as well as more actors to be the lead singer. However, we came to the conclusion that it would be hard to act this out and look as real as possible. Especially if we are using inexperienced actors. Furthermore we decided that it would be too hard to have 3 or 4 actors playing the same boy throughout his childhood. It would simply be too hard and would take too long to find the right looking male. We decided to create a narrative the shows a boy who goes through a number of hardships during his youth, but finally pulls through and achieves his life ambition to be a musician. It is showing 'what went down' whilst he was growing up.
Originally we were going to use sugar glass bottles for a scene where two bullies hurt the boy. But we decided that this could also be dangerous due to sharp shards and the bottles are at a hefty price. We want to use realistic but yet effective costumes hence why we decided to look up to the Ramones by dressing cool but modern in that era. It is evident online as well because people have done the same thing with sugar glass.
From receiving heavy feedback about our audience we decided we will target an audience of teenagers to young adults as we believe that our narrative can be something that may relate to those less fortunate than others and maybe motivate them. We also have the genre of being Indie/Rock/Alternative, so we are targeting lovers of this music and especially individuals who enjoy the organic music made today.
